CASSATA is a 2-row winter barley with a high yield potential and good malting quality. It has moderately short straw, very good resistance to Rhynchosporium and brown rust as well as the commonly occurring strains of Barley Mosaic Virus. Cassata has recently received Provisional Approval 2 from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) for brewing use.

Cassata has produced high yields in HGCA treated trials, similar to Flagon and superior to Pearl. Its untreated yield is the same as Pearl.
Cassata has shown a very high yield potential on land infested with Barley Mosaic Virus in the Cotswolds, 13% above Flagon.
Cassata has short, stiff straw with very good resistance to lodging. It has a similar ripening date to Pearl. |

Cassata has a good specific weight with similar screenings to Flagon.
